#ABOUT THE PROJECT
‘Zomerschool Vlaanderen’ is a digital summer school for pupils in Flemish primary education. The project delivers short and engaging lessons in languages, mathematics, and science. Every lesson is tailored to a specific grade, making the content easy to follow.
The initiative broadcasts lessons on Eén and shares them online through Ketnet and the ‘Zomerschool Vlaanderen’ website. Furthermore, children can find the content on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. This multi-platform approach ensures that pupils meet the lessons in familiar digital spaces. As a result, the project reaches a broad audience and keeps learning accessible.
The creators behind Universiteit van Vlaanderen spearheaded this project. Their goal was never to replace the missed lessons caused by the COVID-19 disruption. Instead, they wanted to provide a supportive educational boost for the summer period. Moreover, the lessons prepare pupils for the next school year in an engaging way.
The approach combines curriculum-relevant topics with a playful, media-friendly presentation style. Teachers and presenters explain key concepts with clarity, while animations add color and fun. Consequently, children remain focused while enjoying the process of learning. This balance of entertainment and education sets ‘Zomerschool Vlaanderen’ apart from traditional classroom methods.
Our team managed the full post-production of ‘Zomerschool Vlaanderen’. We edited the episodes, mixed the sound, and keyed the green screen material. In addition, we developed custom visual effects that supported the educational content. These effects were not only playful but also informative. Therefore, they made complex concepts easier for children to understand, making the learning both memorable and fun. Ultimately, ‘Zomerschool Vlaanderen’ succeeded in offering pupils a vibrant, digital learning journey during summer break.
